you all remember which watchtower quoted the life of sir isaac newton "super phd in math, maybe the greatest math mind ever?
were they greasing their members to accept 2040s as a possible end of the "over-lapping generation"?.
isaac newton came up with his own formula for providing 1914, many centuries before the bible students, so how come the watchtower has tried to take the credit away from the "past men of fame"?.
I was always (even when in) shocked at the plagarism of Newton's work in the "Daniel" book. I recall a discussion after I left with SIL that the "Daniel" book was anything but an original, inspired work of the FDS and that they should have credited Newton with its contents. She went back to her elders with her doubts and said that the elders told her that Newton may well have been of the annointed and therfore part of the continuing FDS....wonder what the reply would be now given their was no FDS until a drunk and his proles assumed the role in 1919???

hey cantleave: When did you finally notice a smile returned to your face? I ask as my family said that while I was in I was generally morose, miserbale and at times horribly uncaring. Getting out was the best thing - spiritually and physically. For one, I too enjoy a nice goatee, but have also shed almost 60lbs (since 2010 when we faded) as I stopped medicating myself with food to combat the feelings of a lack of selfworth, fighting horribly cruel people in the congrgratation who expect perfection and the constant stress of being an elder. I have a much better relationship with God.

as a little background - i was born-in to being a witness, back in '79, in detroit, in mostly black and poor congregations.
baptized when 10-ish, stayed around, was on the fast track to ms, but faded when i moved out at 24ish.. there was a combination of a few things that got me on the road to "freedom" from the cognitive dissonance that kept me "in the truth" for so long.
the main thing was, being an artist and studying marketing, my thinking was patterned to constantly question if i was doing something "correctly," as constant improvement and questioning is what facilitates artistic and mental growth.
It is still strange to me that the WT illustrations depict all heavenly beings as having beards. I guess you just have to wait till you get to heaven...:)
